I decided to do something a little different on the blog today… I’m posting only black & white images from this session! I know, sounds crazy, right? But I personally adore black and white images. By eliminating color, your eyes can better focus on the subject and the emotion of an image. Don’t get me wrong, not every photo looks great in black and white. If the background of the image is too busy or there isn’t enough contrast, a photo simply won’t be as impactful in black and white. However, when I was editing this downtown sweetheart session, I found myself LOVING so many of them in black and white. I think it’s because of the beautiful light we had and the beautiful locations we were shooting at.
Claire and Noah recently moved out of West Michigan, but came back for a visit and to join me for a fun sweetheart session. (Sidenote – I’m loving the idea of a “sweetheart session.” You don’t need to be “engaged” or have an anniversary to take some photos with your love!) We had so much fun enjoying the warmer weather and sunshine while wandering around downtown Grand Rapids. It was such a pleasure to meet you both! I hope we have more opportunities to work together in the future. And don’t worry, for all you out there who love color images, I’m not making a full time switch to black and white! Claire and Noah received lots of color options in their final gallery as well.
