The Best West Michigan Wedding Venues

3/31/25

POSTED IN: For My Brides

One of the biggest decisions you’ll make while wedding planning (after saying yes to forever, of course!) is choosing your venue. Your wedding venue is the backdrop that sets the tone for the entire day. As a photographer, I can tell you it also plays a huge role in how your photos turn out. West Michigan is full of incredible wedding venues, from scenic lakeside estates to charming downtown lofts. If you want a location that not only fits your vision of a classy, romantic wedding day, but also looks amazing in photos, this list of West Michigan wedding venues is for you.

What Makes a Venue Great for Photos?

Before we dive into the list of venues, let’s talk about what makes a location ideal for photography:

  • Beautiful Natural Light – Large windows, outdoor ceremony spaces, and open-air reception areas give you soft, flattering light.

  • Stunning Backdrops – Think gardens, waterfront views, industrial brick walls, or elegant ballrooms—a variety of spaces gives your gallery more depth.

  • Convenient Layouts – Venues with getting-ready spaces, ceremony sites, and reception areas all in one spot make your day (and your timeline) run smoother.

So, with that in mind, here are some of my favorite West Michigan wedding venues that check all the boxes.

Etre Farms – St. Joseph

Best for: A timeless, luxury wedding with a sleek and sophisticated feel.

Etre Farms is one of West Michigan’s most stunning new venues, offering a high-end, all-inclusive service experience. With sleek architecture, high ceilings, and an abundance of natural light, this venue is perfect for couples who want a modern yet inviting atmosphere for their wedding day.

Photography Perks: The all-white, light-filled interiors create the perfect backdrop for timeless photos. It’s a beautiful blank slate for any style wedding, whether you’re drawn to bright, vibrant colors or more subtle, neutral color palettes.

Bonus: The private bridal and groom suites are some of the most stylish getting-ready spaces around, making for incredible pre-ceremony photos.

The Felt Estate – Holland

Best for: A romantic, garden-inspired wedding with vintage elegance.

Tucked away near Saugatuck Dunes State Park, The Felt Estate is full of historic charm and lush outdoor spaces. The mansion itself is stunning, but the sprawling gardens and wooded surroundings make this venue a photographer’s dream.

Photography Perks: Beautiful outdoor ceremony spaces, elegant architecture, and a mix of manicured gardens and wild nature for variety in your photos.

Bonus: Sunset portraits near the dunes are worth sneaking away for during the reception.

Ivy House – Saugatuck

Best for: A nature-inspired wedding with a greenhouse aesthetic.

If you love the idea of a wedding surrounded by greenery, Ivy House is the perfect choice. This venue combines rustic charm with elegant, garden-inspired details. The indoor space features towering glass windows and lush plants, while the outdoor areas offer a private, woodsy setting for ceremonies and portraits.

Photography Perks: The natural light inside the greenhouse makes for dreamy, airy portraits, and the surrounding gardens provide a variety of scenic backdrops.

Bonus: The string lights inside the greenhouse add a romantic glow to your reception photos—perfect for capturing the magic of the evening.

Bay Pointe Inn – Shelbyville

Best for: A lakeside wedding with a mix of natural beauty and classic charm.

Nestled on the shores of Gun Lake, Bay Pointe Inn is the perfect setting for couples who want a waterfront wedding without heading all the way to the coast. With both a spacious outdoor ceremony site overlooking the lake, and an elegant ballroom, this venue is as scenic as it is versatile.

Photography Perks: The lake views provide a breathtaking backdrop, and the surrounding landscape offers plenty of variety for portraits.

Bonus: The reflection off the lake makes for some of the most stunning golden-hour images.

Greencrest Manor – Battle Creek

Best for: A European-inspired estate wedding with old-world charm.

Greencrest Manor feels like stepping into a French countryside estate, with ivy-covered walls, stone pathways, and manicured gardens that provide an incredibly romantic setting. The venue’s historic charm and lush surroundings make it one of the most picturesque wedding locations in West Michigan.

Photography Perks: The mix of stonework, greenery, and timeless architecture gives your wedding gallery a European, destination-wedding feel—without leaving Michigan.

Bonus: From the driveway leading into the estate all the way around to the back gardens, every corner of this venue is stunning and worth capturing. A variety of spaces allows you to plan a completely custom event.

Venue3Two – Grand Rapids

Best for: A luxury estate feel with a touch of fairytale romance.

This historic estate-turned-wedding-venue is one of the most beautiful venues in West Michigan. With its classic architecture, stunning bridal suite, and manicured grounds, Venue3Two is the definition of elegance. Also, views of horses grazing in a nearby pasture add to the fairytale vibes.

Photography Perks: Gorgeous indoor and outdoor photo opportunities, including a dramatic staircase that makes for stunning portraits.

Bonus: The getting-ready rooms here are beautiful—think natural light and elegant details that make for stunning pre-ceremony shots.

Choosing the right wedding venue isn’t just about the space itself. You should consider how it feels and how well it tells your love story. Whether you’re drawn to modern elegance, classic romance, or rustic charm, West Michigan has a venue for you. One that will match your vision and looks amazing in photos.
