There are some couples you never forget, and Mara and Jordan are one of mine. I photographed their engagement session and wedding back in 2017, and I still remember how easy they are to capture. Some people just come alive in front of the camera. These two? Like photographing actual models. Every time. That’s why when I needed a couple to model in this styled shoot a few years ago, they were my first and only choice.
So when Mara reached out about a maternity session, I was so excited. I just knew it would be good and that I’d be simply undone.
And I was.
Dying. Dead. Deceased. The whole time. With every press of the shutter.
They brought their sweet pup, Flex (a very proud big brother in training), and from the first frame to the last, I was just giddy. Somehow, it was both emotional and effortless—the kind of session where every image feels like it matters, but none of it feels forced.
The light was soft and golden; the breeze gentle but just enough to cut through the July heat; and the whole evening felt like one big pause. A moment before life changes forever. A glimpse of the kind of parents they’re becoming.
Sessions like this are why I love what I do. Because it’s not just about beautiful photos (though let’s be honest, these two can’t take a bad one). It’s about getting to step back into someone’s story years later and say, “Look how far you’ve come.”
Mara and Jordan, thank you for inviting me back into your life for this moment. Your joy is contagious, your love is steady, and this baby is already so lucky! Can’t wait to see what this next chapter holds.
